Second Opinions on Scans Done Elsewhere
Interesting points- You are right, that we are not to decide whether our opinion supersedes a previous report. It is always easier to be wise in retrospect. Also the issue of clashing with opinion of other radiologist is well taken. This happens especially when Academic institutions are crossing the opinions given in private centres. They have access to all the clinical data, previous scans and then may give an opinion which differs from a previous scan. At times the evolution of pathology leads the follow-up scans to show the pathology in a different way and then the previous scans can be interpreted in different light. The format suggested by Dr.Aditya Daftary appears more appropriate. This was to initiate a discussion on this topic and point is well taken. Looking forward to more such inputs which debate the Blog entry so that our knowledge evolves further Regards smilies/cool.gif
I will throw you out of the Window
Agreed totally-Some of them behave like goons. But the more sophisticated ones are the more dangerous ones. The goons are easily isolated. There is also a breed of professional managers, some of them Non-specialists, For example-An anesthetist told me how the non-specialist administrators would press him to "Just get the case done" some organizations even training staff nurses to become managers and Board members. They take out their different ‘inferiority complexes’ on us. The way to deal-Have a proper system with rules. For example- A Procedure Protocol, Work-Flow protocol. Appointment protocol More of this in the coming blogs…The ground rules have to be clear especially in departments like Radiology which are catering to several other departments at the same time. Regards and thanks for the comments...Keep the discussion going.

Nice concise guidelines.
When do you leave?
As this is a question which haunts every working person I propose we do a survey Those interested can respond. There are many criteria, but to try and keep it short and simple let us use two (I) SECTOR WORKING IN 1.Public-a .Teaching b. Non teaching 2.Private- a.Hospital b.Diagnostic centre(including self employed) (II)How many years did you work in a Public teaching institution before joining this career path permanently (III)Would you recommend this career path to your junior? Answer options a.Yes b.No c.Cannot say Hope to get some responses to try to collectively make better sense of the worlds we live in.
